Since December of last year, BWI has been testing a messenger application based on the open-source solution "Matrix" on behalf of the Bundeswehr. It makes it possible to transmit openly classified information on service smartphones and tablets. In the future, the chat application will also be used to transmit classified information (VS-NfD).

In a further expansion stage, private end devices will also be able to be used for open communication via Matrix from the fall of this year (2020).
